The Professional Heavy Towing Process
A Look Behind the Scenes of a Safe and Efficient Recovery
Towing a multi-ton commercial vehicle is a complex task that requires expertise, precision, and the right equipment. It's more than just hooking up a chain. Here is a simplified overview of the professional process our certified technicians follow to ensure the safety of your asset.
Step 1: Immediate Safety Assessment
The first priority is safety. Our operator assesses the scene, secures the area with cones and lights, and ensures the vehicle is stable before beginning any recovery work. This is crucial, especially on busy highways.
Step 2: Selecting the Right Equipment
Not all tows are the same. Based on the vehicle's weight, condition, and location, we dispatch the correct truck from our fleet—whether it's a heavy-duty wrecker for a simple tow or a rotator for complex recoveries.
Step 3: Secure & Damage-Free Connection
Our certified technicians meticulously connect to the vehicle's frame or axles using specialized attachments. We use techniques like under-reach and wheel-lift towing to avoid any pressure on the body or bumper, preventing damage.
Step 4: The Recovery & Tow
With the vehicle securely attached, we begin the recovery. For rollovers or ditch situations, this involves careful winching. Once on stable ground, we lift the front axle and tow the vehicle to its destination, constantly monitoring its stability.
Step 5: Safe Delivery & Disconnection
Upon arrival at the repair shop or yard, we carefully lower the vehicle, disconnect our equipment, and perform a final check to ensure it is parked safely and securely.
